Developmental disability Characterized by an interrupted sequence and rate of normal growth, development, and maturation.
Cerebral palsy A condition often characterized by mental retardation, epilepsy, and motor impairment.
Autism A wide range of neurological conditions that affect a person's ability to socialize, communicate, and understand appropriate behavior.
Restraints Anything (physical or chemical) that impedes a client's movements.
Reality orientation Helping the client to become aware of his or her surroundings, the date and time, and other pertinent information about his or her present situation.
Effective listening Requires active listening.
Reflective listening Repeat in your own words what you think the client meant.
