What are the four chambers of the heart? Right atrium , right ventricle , left atrium, left ventricle
Which chamber has the thickest wall and why? the left ventricle because it pumps the blood to the entire body
What valve is located between the right atrium and right ventricle? the tricuspid valve
What valve is located between the left atrium and left ventricle? the bicuspid valve
what is the function of the pulmonary valve ? it prevents backflow of blood from the pulmonary artery into the right ventricle
What is the function of the aortic valve? It prevents backflow of blood from the aorta into the left ventricle
what is the name of the membrane that surrounds the heart? pericardium
what are the three layers of the heart wall from outermost to innermost? epicardium, myocardium, endocardium
what structure separates the left and right sides of the heart? the septum
where does blood enter the heart through the body? through the superior and inferior vena cava into the right atrium
