Relationships 101

Sexual Violence and Healthy Relationships

TermDefinition
Consent An informed, enthusiastic, and ongoing agreement to engage in physical or sexual activity.
Healthy Relationship A relationship characterized by mutual respect, trust, communication, and emotional support.
Sexual Violence Any form of violence or abuse that involves sexual contact or behavior, including rape, sexual assault, and harassment.
Boundries Clear limits or rules that define what is and is not acceptable behavior in a relationship.
Coercion Using manipulation, threats, or force to get someone to engage in physical or sexual activity.
Glasslight A form of emotional manipulation where a person makes someone question their own sanity or memory.
Intimate Partner Violence Physical, emotional, or sexual abuse within a romantic relationship.
Rape Culture A culture that perpetuates and normalizes sexual violence, often through victim-blaming and objectification.
Trauma-Informed care An approach to supporting survivors of trauma that acknowledges the impact of trauma and provides a safe and supportive environment.
Victim-Blaming Shifting the responsibility for a crime or harm from the perpetrator to the victim.
