| Leukopenia | deficiency in white blood cells |
| Phagocytosis | process in which phagocytes destroy foreign microorganisms |
| Thrombosis | the formation of a blood clot |
| Asplenia | absence of a spleen or of spleen function |
| Diaphoresis | profuse sweating |
| Ischemia | blockage of blood flow to an organ |
| Varicose veins | An enlarged, dilatated vein toward the surface of the skin |
| Sonography | use of sound waves to produce diagnostic images; also called ultrasound |
