Legal and Ethical terms
| Term | Definition |

| Durable power of attorney | Document that lets you name someone else in charge of healthcare decisions if you get to a point where you can’t make the decision. |
| Living will | Legal document that says what medical treatments you're okay with and what ones your not. It also holds your preference medical decisions and follows your wishes. |
| Ventilator | A machine that moves air in and out of your lungs. |
| Feeding tube | A medical device that provides food and nutrition to people who cannot eat it through their mouths. |
| Dialysis | It is a treatment for failing kidneys that takes over the job your kidneys are supposed to be doing. |
| Euthanasia | It is a painless killing of a patient suffering with an incurable disease. |
| Intubate | A tube installed in your body for ventilation. |
| Intravenous | A method that can administer fluids, medications, and nutrients directly in a vein. |
| CPR | It is a method used to save a person from cardiac arrest. It is when you try and restart the heart by using rhythmic pumps. |
| Sedation | A drug used to put a patient to sleep or relax, usually for a procedure. |
| Vegetative state | This is when a person is awake but shows no signs of awareness or responsiveness. |
| Comatose | If a patient is comatose, that means that they are in a coma where they are unconscious and unable to communicate. Patients are usually in a coma for a long time. |
| Pain management | Type of medicine that evaluates, diagnoses, and treats different types/levels of pain. |
| Organ Procurement | A procedure that is used to remove organs, tissues, etc that can be reused for transplantation. |
