Identity Includes traits, behaviors, beliefs, values, and characteristics that make you who you are.
Visible Characteristics characteristics that are seen by others
Invisible Characteristics characteristics that are not readily seen by others
Culture set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that are shared by a group of people
Race a group of people who have common visible, physical traits such as skin color, hair color, facial features
Ethnicity Identifying with others based on shared attributes, language, and culture
Values Standards that guide your behavior
Personal Identity the beliefs, values, and characteristics we use to define ourselves
Social Identity Based on physical, social, and mental characteristics that are perceived by others
Self-Esteem How much you value, respect, and feel confident about yourself
Emotions Signals that tell your mind and body how to react to a situation
Emotional Awareness the skill of understanding emotions, being able to identify an emotion, and explain why you are experiencing that emotion
Stress the reaction of the body and mind to everyday challenges and demands
Acute Stress Stress that occurs quickly, in the moment
Chronic Stress Stress that builds slowly and lasts for a long period of time
Distant Stress When time has elapsed since the stressor, but you still experience stress
Event Sequence One stressors build upon another
Perception How you use your senses to experience your world
Eustress positive stress, or a stress response that results from a positive situation
Distress negative stress, or a stress response that results from a negative situation
Stressor any situation that causes you to experience stress
Stress Alarm Stage When your body is on high alert, the fight or flight stage
Resistance Stage When your body reacts to the stressors
Fatigue Stage When your body loses its ability to adapt to stressors
Depression A common mood disorder with specific changes in moods, thoughts and behaviors
