Primitive Ancient or prehistoric
Intravenously Directly into a vein
Anatomy The science dealing with the structures of humans, animals, and other living things.
Observation Act of watching
Symptom A sign or indication of something
Ethics A system of moral principles.
Epidemics Disease affecting many people at the same time.
Vaccines A weakened bacteria or virus given to a person to build immunity against a disease.
Stethoscope Instrument used to hear sounds in the body such as heartbeat, lung sounds, and bowel sounds.
Microbiology The branch of Biology dealing with structures, functions, uses, and modes of existence of microscopic organisms.
Microorganisms Organisms so small that they can only be seen through a microscope.
Antiseptic Substance that slows or stops the growth of microorganisms.
Asepsis Sterile conditions, free from all germs.
Anesthesia Loss of feeling or sensation.
Psychology The science of the mind or of mental states and processes.
Psychiatry The practice or science of diagnosing and treating mental disorders.
Noninvasive Not involving penetration of the skin.
Geriatric Pertaining to old age.
Phlebotomy Practice of opening a vein by incision or puncture to remove blood.
Pasteurization Kills bacteria in milk.
Chain of Command The order of authority within a facility.
Care Team Group of people with different kinds of education and experience who provide care to patients.
Charge Nurse A nurse responsible for a team of healthcare workers.
Conscientious Guided by a sense of right and wrong; principled.
Trustworthy Deserving the trust of others.
Subacute Care Care given in hospitals or in long-term care facilities for people who need less care than for an acute illness.
