Health Records Terms

TermDefinition
Febrile Having a fever or elevated body temperature
Afebrile Absence of fever or normal body temperature
Malaise A general feeling of discomfort, uneasiness, or fatigue often associated with an underlying illness
Auscultation The act of listening to body sounds, such as heart or lung sounds, using a stethoscope
Percussion The technique of tapping on body surfaces to assess underlying structures or organs
Unremarkable Within the normal range or not significant in terms of clinical findings
Marked Referring to a significant or notable finding
Benign Non-cancerous; not likely to cause harm or spread
Malignant Cancerous or potentially harmful; capable of spreading and causing harm
Etiology The cause or origin of a disease or condition
