Malleus | a small bone in the middle ear which transmits vibrations of the eardrum to the incus |
Myringotomy | surgical opening made in tympanic membrane and tubes placed in the ear to drain fluids |
Nasal septum | the bones and cartilage in the nose that separates the nasal cavity into two nostrils |
Ophthalmoscope | a lighted instrument for inspecting the retina and other parts of the eye |
Orbital cavity | bony cavity in the skull that houses and protects the eyeball |
Ossicles | three tiny bones in the middle ear that transmit sound to the cochlea |
Otoscope | a lighted instrument for inspecting the retina and other parts of the eye |
Papillae | projections on the tongue that contain taste buds |
Pinna | external part of the ear; also called the auricle |
Rhinitis | inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nose |
Rods | a type of specialized light-sensitive cell in the retina of the eye that provides side vision and the ability to see objects in dim light only (night vision) |
