| Medical Intervention Model of Disability | An intervention theory that focuses on the medical aspects of a disability and intends to 'cure' a person of their disability. |
| Social Intervention Model of Disability | An intervention theory that focuses on the belief that disability is a social construct caused by the way that society is organized. Interventions focus on changing the physical environment to meet the needs of the individual. |
| Rehabilitation Intervention Model of Disability | An intervention theory that focuses on the belief that if a person with a disability makes an effort and works with rehabilitation services, they can overcome their disability. |
| Health Promotion Intervention Model of Disability | An intervention theory that claims that individual characteristics and life experiences have a direct impact on the actions and decisions an individual makes regarding their health. |

| Normalization Principle of Intervention | Refers to making the patterns of life and conditions of everyday living, which are as close to typical circumstances as possible, available to all persons with disabilities through the modification of an individuals environment. |
| Dignity of Risk | The legal right of every person, including those with disabilities, to make choices and take risks to learn, grow, and have a better quality of life, regardless of consequences. |
| Least Restrictive Alternative | Legal Term and concept that recognizes the need to restrict the freedom, opportunity, or access of an individual to protect themselves and others that provides the least amount of restriction of the needs, rights, dignity, and goals of the individual. |
