| lymph nodes | small, glandular structures concentrated in the neck, axilla, and groin, which produce and store lymphocytes, and are home to macrophages that filter lymph |
| lymph nodules | masses of lymphoid tissue comprised of macrophages and lymphocytes (not encapsulated) |
| thymus | - located posterior to the sternum - large in children and atrophies after adolescence - responsible for production and maturation of T-cells |
| spleen | - largest lymphatic organ, located in upper-left abdominal quadrant - produces macrophages that filter the blood |
| interstitial fluid | - tissue fluid found between the cells - once collected and filtered = lymph |
