Did you live anywhere before this? Yes, I lived on Stratton Terrace in a nice gated subdivision of New Rochelle
Why did you move? I was a victim of a money scam carried out by Sydney Taylor and Shawn Miller. This caused us to lose our retirement savings.
Who do you live with? My Spouse
Where do you work? I retired in June 2015.
Where did you work before you retired? I worked as an English professor at Bartmoor College.
How long did you work there? 35 years
where does yourspouse work? She is also retired.
Where did She work before She retired? A chemical engineer at a midsize industrial company
When did she retire? The previous December
How much money did you save for your future of the course of your working years? We saved 2.5 million dollars for retirement
Who was your money managed by? Behman Brothers
How would you describe the amount of returns recieved? modest but stable
when were you introduced to shawn Miller? In Apri 2016 at our yearly meeting with Behman Brothers. He was then assigned our retirement account.
How did you feel about Shawn Miller? I felt comfortable. He had a people friendly personality
How did your spouse feel about Shawn Miller? She also felt comfortable with him.
How were your investment result after Shawn Miller took control of your account? They were consistent.
Is that what you expected/wanted? we were hoping for the double digit returns people we know were recieving.
What company did Shawn reccomend to invest your retirement savings into? S&S Derivatives, He was Starting at that company the following in Janurary 2017.
When did he reccoment that compnay? December 2016
Did you end up switching companies? Yes, in March 2017 we decided to switch.
Why? We knew shawn for 8 months and trusted him.
How much did your investments return after switching companies? We recieved double digit returns
Did the stock market downturns effect your returns? No, it seemed our returns were always consistent no matter the stock market conditions.
were you suspicious about this at that time? No, honesty we were just happy with the results.
When did you start getting susupicous? In the summer of 2019, I was reading an investment blog and the comments were warning readers to deman more information about your account. Especially, if the investment company was paying double digit returns despite economic condiotions.
Did you act on this advice? Yes
What did you do? In July 2019, I contacted Shaw to request information beyond the monthly statements.
What was Shawn's reaction? He avoided the topic but assured me our account was in good hands. Shaw told me to contact Sidney Taylor. Sidney took the lead on making investmen decisions for clients.
Did you contact Sidney? Yes, I attempted numerous times. 5-6 times in a two week period. Each time, Sindey's assistant Pat Nolan said Sidney was unavailable and would return my call soon.
Did Sidney every call you back? No
What did you do after that? In Late August 2019, I filed a complaint with the NYC Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
What happened to that complaint? I believe that they made a hasty investigation because it would involve many complicated rules
What did you do after not hearing from the SEC? On October 15 2019, I made another formal complaint with the Investor Protection Bureu of the New York Attorney General's office.
What happened to that complaint? It was assigned to Sheridan Holmes and I explained the situation.
How and when did you feel when you found out that Sidney and Shawn were accused of security fraud? We found out in Feburary 2020. We were shocked and devesated. We expected to lose our enitre retirement account.
How are you making up money now? I am teaching English as a part time job at New Rochelle Community College. My spouse is a greeter at a local big box store.
