QuestionAnswer
What is substance abuse? Taking a drug for reasons other than medical use.
What is illicit drug use? Taking a drug for reasons other than medical use, no doctor prescriptions, or using too much (Illegal drug use).
What is an overdose? Taking a high dosage in a short amount of time.
What is an addiction? Craving alcohol and an inability to limit the amount of alcohol one consumes. Psychological- Feel you need the drug Physical- Go through withdrawal
What is paranoia? Lose touch of reality and feel others are out to get you.
What is an inhalant? A petroleum substance and gas.
What is a psycho active drug? Mind altering drugs.
What is euphoria? Feeling high, dopamine and endorphins are released, feeling of pleasure.
What is a drug watch? When community members stop drug trafficking.
What is a drug-free zone? Can't sell drugs within zones (ex. schools). Punishments are higher if drugs are sold within these zones.
What is rehab? Intervention to help detoxification. Helps fight addiction.
What are the 3 types of drugs? -Stimulants: diuretic (make you pee). -Depressant -Hallucinogens- powerful stimulants.
What are barbiturates? Muscle relaxant.
What is a designer drug? Duplicate other drugs; look-alike. Ex. Spice.
How do drugs effect the health pyramid? Social: get arrested. Mental: anxiety, depression, paranoia, aggression. Physical: cancer, heart disease, liver function.
