Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Atrophy Muscles shrink/get smaller
Hypertrophy Muscles get stronger/bigger
Force A push or pull on a object (you)
Power Max force in a short time; strength + speed= power
Resistance A force that makes movement harder
Individual Your own; singular; unique
Aerobic With oxygen; exercise that improves the cardiovascular system (heart & lung) system
Anaerobic Without; oxygen; short time and max effort
Hydration Adding of fluid into the body
Dehydration Loss or removal of water that is harmful to the body
Specific Exercise in a similar way to match goals or how your body will need to preform
Resting heart rate Lowest heart rate your body is cable of ;lower=better
Stroke volume How much blood your heart pumps out per contraction
Endorphins Hormones released during exercise that make you feel happy (runner high)
Epinephrine Hormone body releases when you are stressed (in trouble); too much is bad
