vaccine a substance that helps the body build resistance to a certain disease
antibiotic a drug that kills bacteria or slows the growth of bacteria
anabolic steroids synthetic version of the male hormone testosterone
stimulant any drug that speeds up the activity of the heart and brain
depressant any drug that causes activity in the body and brain to slow
methamphetamines causes the feeling of increased strength, can cause increased heart rate, violent behavior, stroke, or death
anorexia nervosa an eating disorder that involves self-starvation, an unhealthy body image, and extreme weight loss
bulimia nervosa an eating disorder in which a person eats a large amount of food and then tries to remove the food from the body
binge eating disorder a person cannot control how much he or she eats
empty calories usually refers to junk food that is full of sugar which does not provide long lasting energy for the body
fad diets a diet that promises quick wight loss with little effort
body image the way that you see yourself and imagine your body
stress the combination of a new or possibly threatening situation and the body's natural response to the situation
stressor An activity, event, or other stimulus that causes stress
stress management strategies to help mange stress
distress a state of extreme sorrow, suffering, or pain
cardiorespiratory system relating to, or affecting the heart respiratory system
endocrine system a system of glands that produce hormones for the bloddstream, such as the pituitary system or thyroid glands
digestive system set of organs in your body that digest the food you eat
