| Fitness | The ability of the whole body to work together to the highest level possible |
| Cardiovascular Fitness | The condition of your heart |
| Resting pulse rate | Your pulse at rest, taken in the morning when you wake up |
| Cardiac Output | The volume of blood pumped by the heart in one minute |
| Stroke Volume | The volume of blood the heart pumps at each stroke |
| Blood pressure | The measure of the resistance to blood flow in the vessels and the efficiency of circulation |
| Lean body weight | The weight of the muscles of the body |
| EKG | Electrocardiagram; recording the electrical impulses set off by the heart |
| Lifetime Sport | Activities that you can participate in throughout your life |
| Aerobic Activity | When the body demands more oxygen than normal |
| Anaerobic Activity | Short bursts of energy, without the use of oxygen |
| Overload | A principle of exercise that means to gradually do more than normal to improve performance. |
| Progression | A principle of exercise that means to start with a little and add to it regularly as improvement is made |
| Specificity | A principle of exercise that means to do specific kinds of exercises to develop certain parts of the body |
| Cross training | A principle of exercise that means to vary the exercise routine |
| Ergogenic aid | Something that improves physical work performance |
| Cardiovascular Fitness | The first part to physical fitness |
| Muscular Strength | The second part to physical fitness |
| Flexibility | The third part to physical fitness |
