CH 3 Section 2A Key Terms

TermDefinition
Lateral rotation rotation movement of the shoulder or hip away from the midline; external rotation.
Supination rotation movement of the forearm to palm up; palm facing anterior.
Retraction movement of the scapula toward the spinal column; scapular adduction.
Distal further from the axial body.
Ulnar deviation movement of the wrist toward the ulna or toward the body; wrist adduction.
Inferior toward or nearer to the feet; caudal.
Prone lying horizontally facing downward.
Dorsal back; posterior.
Abd abduction
Ant anterior
AP anteroposterior
Flex flexion
L left
Lat lateral
LE lower extremity; leg
LLQ left lower quadrant
RLQ right lower quadrant
Add adduction
