Vocabulary terms from Lesson 3

TermDefinition
Pregnancy The time when a woman carries a developing fetus into her uterus.
Embryo A developing human, from fertilization until the end of the eigth week of pregnancy.
Fetus The developing human in a woman's uterus, from the start of the ninth week of pregnancy until birth.
Placenta An organ that grows in a woman's uterus during pregnancy, provides nutrients and oxygen to the fetus, and removes waste from the fetus.
Birth The passage of a baby from the mother's uterus to outside the mother's body.
