| Amino Acids | The building blocks that make up protein. |
| Vitamins | Nutrients that help chemical reaction take place in the body. |
| Plaque | Hardened fatty deposits in blood vessels. |
| Fiber | The part of grains and plant foods that cannot be digested. |
| Nutrient | A chemical substance in foods that builds, repairs, and maintains body tissues; regulates body processes and provides energy (measured in calories). |
| Fats | Nutrients that are a source of and make certain vitamins available for use in the body. |
| Minerals | Nutrients that regulate many chemical reactions in the body. |
| Water | A nutrient that makes up part of blood; helps the process of digestion; helps remove body waste: regulates body temperature; and cushions the spinal cord and joints. |
