What type of circulation carries blood away from the heart? Pulmonary circulation
What type of circulation sends oxygen-rich blood to all the body tissues except the lungs? Systemic circulation
What is removed from the blood in the lungs? Carbon dioxide
When we inhale, what is added to the blood and sent back to the heart? Oxygen
What is the body's largest artery? Aorta
What are the four elements (parts) of blood? Red blood cells (RBCs), White blood cells (WBCs), Platelets, Plasma
What is the function of platelets? Helps blood clot, or thicken
What is the function of plasma? Carry nutrients to cells
What is the function of red blood cells? Carry oxygen from lungs to all body parts
What is the function of white blood cells? Fight infection in the body
What are the 4 blood types? A, B, AB, O
How are blood types classified? The type of red blood cells they contain
How can you care for your Circulatory System? Eat a balanced diet, avoid smoking, learn to manage stress, regular physical activity
