Global Health

TermDefinition
Global Health Refers to the health of different populations in the world.
Economy A countries production and consumption of goods and services and their supply of money.
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Is a measure of the total value of goods and services produced by a country in a year.
Developed Countries Refers to countries with good/strong economies, high standard of living, well established education.
Developing Countries Refers to countries with poor to medium economies, high population and low income, poor participation in education.
Life Expectancy Estimation of how long someone is expected to live, it is calculated using current death rates.
Mortality The amount of deaths caused by a particular disease, illness or other environmental factors.
Under-five Mortality Rate Number of deaths that occur in the first five years of a child's life.
Infant Mortality Rate Number of deaths that occur in a child's first year of lie.
Disease and Disability In many developing countries much of disease & disability is linked to, under nutrition and infectious disease such as HIV/AIDS. In developed countries much of disease & disability are heart disease, depression, diabetes and lung cancer.
