CONTRACT | Agreement between two or more parties |
TORT | A wrongful act that does not involve a contract. It is called a civil wrong instead of a crime. eg. Neglience, malpractice, assault and battery |
SLANDER | Is oral and spoken false statements of defamation |
LIBEL | Is a written false statement of defamation |
DEFAMATION | A false statement either cause a person to be ridiculed or damage the person's reputation |
CONFIDENTIALITY | Means the information about the patient must remain private and only shared with others taking care of the patient. |
LEGAL | They are created and enforce by the federal, state or local government. It is rule that must be followed. |
AGENT | Is a person that works under the direction and control of another person. eg. the employee is the agent. |
ETHICS | Are a set of principles related to what is morally right or wrong. |
FALSE IMPRISONMENT | Restraining an individual or restricting an individual's freedom without authorization. |
MALPRACTICE | Bad practice. The failure of a professional to use the degree of skill and learning commonly expected in their profession, resulting in injury, loss or damage to the person receiving care. |
ASSAULT | A threat or attempt to injury someone. eg. I will whip your butt. |
NEGLIGENCE | Failure to give care that is normally expected of a person in a particular position, resulting in injury to another person |
PATIENT'S RIGHT | Are factors of care that the patient are expected to receive. |
LIVING WILL | A legal form stating what measures should or should not be taken to prolong life. |
DURABLE POWER OF ATTORNEY (POA) | This document permits an individual to appoint another person to make decisions regarding health care,if the person is unconconscious. |
DNR | Do Not Resuscitate. It is stated in a living will |
BATTERY | The unlawful touching of another person without consent. the hitting and grabbing a person |
PRINICIPAL | The employer is called this word. The employer has people working for them. The employer s required to pay the agent (employee) |
ADVANCE DIRECTIVES | Legal documents that allows individuals to state what medical treatment they want or do not want in the event that they become incapacitated and unable to express their wishes. |
