The Eye

Eye Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Sclera Is the outer layer of the eye. ( white part of the eye)
Choroid Is the middle layer of the eye and has excess pigment that helps absorb glare.
Retina Has rods and cones and is the inner layer of the eye.
Rods Helps us see in black, white, and grey.
Cones Helps us see bright light and in color.
Optic Disk (Blind Spot) The region where the retina connects to the optic nerve.
Conjuctiva A thin mucous membrane that lines the eyelid.
Iris The colored portion of the eye.
Pupil In the middle of the Iris and helps us process light.
Lacrimal Glands Produces tears.
