Eye Vocabulary
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Sclera | Is the outer layer of the eye. ( white part of the eye) |
Choroid | Is the middle layer of the eye and has excess pigment that helps absorb glare. |
Retina | Has rods and cones and is the inner layer of the eye. |
Rods | Helps us see in black, white, and grey. |
Cones | Helps us see bright light and in color. |
Optic Disk (Blind Spot) | The region where the retina connects to the optic nerve. |
Conjuctiva | A thin mucous membrane that lines the eyelid. |
Iris | The colored portion of the eye. |
Pupil | In the middle of the Iris and helps us process light. |
Lacrimal Glands | Produces tears. |
