Basal Metabolism The ability of the body to use energy at a higher rate when the body is at rest
Calorie A unit of heat the body uses for energy

HDL Good cholesterol
Complex Carbohydrates Starches that are broken down by the body into two or more sugars
Amino Acids The chief component of every protein
Saturated Fat Fats that tend to increase cholesterol levels
Unsaturated Fat Fats that don't tend to elevate cholesterol levels
Glucose Type of sugar made from carbohydrates
Insulin A hormone released from the pancreas to regulate the sugar in the body
