Locomotor Terms
| Term | Definition |

| locomotor | skill that moves the body from one place to another |
| pathway | trail that a person's body uses to move from one place to another |
| straight | a pathway with no curves |
| curved | a pathway that looks like the letter "C" |
| zigzag | a pathway that looks like the letter "Z" |
| levels | different heights and speeds used in movement |
| backward | to move one's body or an object toward the back |
| forward | to move one's body or an object toward the front |
| upward | to move one's body or an object toward the sky/ceiling |
| downward | to move one's body or an object toward the ground/floor |
| to the right | to move one's body or an object to the right hand side |
| to the left | to move one's body or an object to the left hand side |
| low | to move at a slow pace or toward the ground/floor |
| medium | to move at an in between pace or toward the body's center of gravity |
| high | to move at a fast pace or toward the sky'ceiling |
| walk | to use one's feet to advance at a slow to moderate pace |
| side-slide | the act of moving smoothly along a surface whill touching inside of feet together |
| run | move quickly by using one's feet, with one foot always off the ground |
| hop | to travel using only one foot while bouncing |
| skip | to move in a light, springy manner using a step/hop |
| gallop | a bounding step where a person's back foot never passes the front foot. |
| jump | to move using two feet at the same time off the ground |
| leap | to move suddenly with a long step |
| sideways | to move only to one side or the other |
