Principal and Ancillary Functions

TermDefinition
Master Patient Index (MPI) Type of database which confirms personal patient and insurance information.
Unique Identifier Type of number that identifies a person.
Clinical privileges A physician that provides a certain treatment to a patient based on their educational training.
Liability Responsible for someone or something by law.
Subpoena Type of document stating person has to come to court.
e-discovery Electronic Stored Information.
Incident Report Type of form that states the incident that happened in the hospital giving detailed information including names, dates, and locations.
Accreditation The approval of a healthcare organization.
Certification Confirming a right in a healthcare organization.
Medical necessity Services provided to someone for a certain condition.
