| Ovum | A female cell or egg needed for reproduction |
| Uterus | The organ in a women's body in which a baby develops during pregnancy |
| Fallopian Tube | A tube that connects the ovary to the uterus |
| Sperm | Male cell needed for reproduction |
| Conception | The process by which a sperm cell reaches the Fallopian tube, and penetrates and fertilizes an ovum. |
| Prenatal Development | The baby's development during pregnancy |
| Zygote | The fertilized human egg |
| Embryo | The name for developing baby From about the third week of pregnancy through the eighth week |
| Amniotic Fluid | Liquid that surrounds and protects the developing baby in the uterus |
| Placenta | Tissue that connects the developing baby to the uterus. Allow nutrients and oxygen to flow to the baby |
| Umbilical Cord | Long cord the connects the baby to the placenta and transmit oxygen and nourishment from the mother's blood to the baby |
| Fetus | The stage of development that begins around the eighth or ninth pregnancy and lasts until birth |
