Ovum A female cell or egg needed for reproduction
Uterus The organ in a women's body in which a baby develops during pregnancy
Fallopian Tube A tube that connects the ovary to the uterus
Sperm Male cell needed for reproduction
Conception The process by which a sperm cell reaches the Fallopian tube, and penetrates and fertilizes an ovum.
Prenatal Development The baby's development during pregnancy
Zygote The fertilized human egg
Embryo The name for developing baby From about the third week of pregnancy through the eighth week
Amniotic Fluid Liquid that surrounds and protects the developing baby in the uterus
Placenta Tissue that connects the developing baby to the uterus. Allow nutrients and oxygen to flow to the baby
Umbilical Cord Long cord the connects the baby to the placenta and transmit oxygen and nourishment from the mother's blood to the baby
Fetus The stage of development that begins around the eighth or ninth pregnancy and lasts until birth
