Manners

TermDefinition
manner A way of behaving. A way of doing something or the way in which something is done.
good manners The polite way we behave especially in public. Saying "please" and "thank you" is part of using good manners.
please A polite word to use when you want something. "Can I go to the toilet, please?" or "Can I please borrow your eraser?" are examples of using this word.
thank you A polite word to use when you are given something. When anyone gives you something, it is good to always say these words.
you're welcome When you do something for someone and they say "thank you", it is good manners to reply with these words.
excuse me If you need to get past somebody or you want to get someone's attention, you can say these words.
sorry If you make a mistake or do something wrong, it is good to say this word and mean it.
polite When you are this, people are likely to be nice to you. No one likes a rude person.
ettiqutte The right way of behaving in public. Using your manners, being polite, behaving nicely and not rudely are all part of this.
listening No talking when others are talking are all part of having good manners.
good character Someone who uses good manners and good ettiquette has this.
good morning What you may say when you see someone you know in the morning time. It is polite to respond with this when you see someone in the morning.
good afternoon What you may say when you see someone you know in the afternoon time. You may say this like saying "good-bye" to your teacher at home time. It is polite to respond with this when you see someone in the afternoon.
good night Something you say when you go to bed. It lets people know you are going to bed or going somewhere else in the night time. It is a polite thing to say.
pardon me Another way of saying "excuse me". You might say this if you need to say something or if you burp by accident.
I beg your pardon You may say this if you need to hear something again.
Bless you You could say this after someone has sneezed. It is polite to say.
rude When you don't use your manners or good ettiquette. No one likes a rude person.
