What is depression? A disorder that is a medical illness that causes a constant feeling of sadness and lack of interest. Depression affects how the person feels, behaves and thinks.
How is the disorder affecting society? 1. Isolation: connection to others is weakened. 2. Lack of Control: It influences the decisions you make and affect the environment 3.Chronic stress: you will always feel like you have a lot of stress on you.
Who gets depression? Women are twice more likely to get depression than men do. Technically everyone can get depression.
What part of the body does it affect? Sleep, appearance, mental health, social health.
What are some symptoms? 1.Increased aches and pains, which occur in about two out of three people with depression 2.Chronic fatigue 3.Decreased appetite 4.Insomnia, lack of deep sleep, or oversleeping
What are some risk factors? (causes) Changes in the brain have an effect on many of the body's systems.
What is the treatment you can receive? 1. You can receive medication like antidepressants. 2. You can also get therapy for depression to keep control.
How do you diagnose this disorder? 1.sadness or depressed almost every day. 2. Loss of enjoyment in things that were once pleasurable 3.Major change in weight or appetite 4.Excessive sleep almost every day 5.Physically restless or rundown 6.Feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness
How do you manage anxiety from depression? Talking about what is making you anxious, as well as a healthy diet and exercising, will all help you to control your anxiety.
What are the three most common types of depression? 1. Mild depression 2. Major depression 3. Bi-polar disorder
