what is Alcholism? | Alcoholics have no control over their drinking. They drink to escape from reality. When something unpleasant happens to them, they get drunk to avoid dealing with it. |
How is the disese affecting society? | Alcoholism creates problems for the drinker, the drinker’s family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. It affects many lives. |
Who gets it? | Men and women under the age of eighteen. Anyone can be an alcoholic. |
What part of the body does it affect? | Liver, eyes, hands, legs, heart |
Overview of the Disease | It’s a drinking problem that effects one out of every eight Americans who uses alcohol suffers from the chronic, severe, and devastating fatal disease known as alcoholism. |
What are the treatment options? | Professional treatment is often the only way someone can quit drinking |
