vitamins | help the body with various processes, including use of other nutrients |

water | helps maintain steady state in body |
dehydration | loss or low levels of water; can be caused by exessive diarrhea |
What are the fat soluble vitamins? | The vitamins include vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin A, and vitamin K. |
fad diet | diets that are in, or popular (gluten free) |
constipation | lack of fiber and loss of water causes this |
indigestion | difficulty digesting meals |
diarrhea | bland, low fiber diet, and use medication helps reduce this |
ulcers | break in the lining of the stomach or small intestines |
cholesterol | waxy fat-like substance found in animal cells may lead to heart disease or stroke |
complex carbohydrate | brown rice, potato, etc |
basal metabolic rate (BMR) | rate at which body uses calories at rest |
saturated fat | solid at room temperature |
unsaturated fat | help decrease inflammation, reduce heart disease, reduce blood clotting (and/or thick blood), and help regulate blood pressure. |
Why is fiber important? | indigestible portion of food derived from plants helps you to eliminate waste (go to bathroom) |

What is nutrient density? | Food that contain lots of vitamins and minerals relative to the number of calories |
