What is mental, emotional, and social health? your ability to deal ina reasonable way with stress and change of daily life.
What is stress? your body's response to change.
What is conflict? a disagreement or argument between two or more people with different views.
What are emotions? feelings you have in response to thoughts, remarks, and events.
Who influences the decisions you make? Siblings, friends, teachers, celebrities, parents
How can you relieve stress? Playing sports, drawing, reading, writing, listening to music, stress ball
List some emotions. anger, love, envy, surprise, happiness, sadness, confusion
Give examples of decisions. What should I wear? Should I go to the party?
Where can you get help if you suspect someone is at risk for suicide or self-injury? Family member, teachers, school nurse, guidence counselor, religious leader, and mental health professional
What are some formes of self-injury? Punching, hitting, scratching, choking, biting, picking at wounds, burning, stabbing, self-poisoning
What are the signs of suicide? talking about death or methods of suicide, avoiding activities that involve family/friends, showing a low level of energy, taking greater risks than usual (ex:illegal drugs), losing interest in hobbies, sports, or school, giving away prized or personal po
What is suicide? the act of intentionally killing oneself
How do you help a friend if you see signs of self-injury or sucide? take them seriously, LISTEN-this lets them know you care, do NOT promise to keep a secret, talk to them-tell them they are IMPORTANT to you, urge them to get help WITH you
What is self-injury? the act of intentionally hurting one's own body WITHOUT suicidal intent.
What are signs of self-injury? extreme stress, inability to cope with loss or change, feeling lost or alone, feeling disconnected, self-loathing
What are the steps in the decision-making model? Determine the problem, examine the possible choices you can make, consider the consequences, identify your values, decide and act, and evaluate if you made the right decision.
What are positive approaches to resolving conflict? talk it out, take a deep breath, count to 10, listen, identify the cause, trade places
What are negative apporaches to resolving confict? punching, kicking, bullying, cursing, yelling
Where do most people self-injure and why? Popular places include arms, legs, abdomen, and inner thighs because these are the places that are easily covered up.
Where does conflict come from? siblings, stress, different opinions, yourself, annoying people, school:cafeteria,gym, hallways, home, playground, fields, sporting events.
What are the two types of stress and define. 1.Distress-(bad) ex:too much homework 2.Eustress-(good) ex:motivator (clutch hitter)
