QuestionAnswer
If the person is alert what should you do? Ask the person questions to determine what happened, what's wrong, What are they allergic to, and any medical problems they have. Make sure they dont move
If a person registers as verbal what do you do? Ask them the same questions from alert.
If the person registers as pain? Call 9-1-1 immediately, ask bystanders what happened, and monitor the person and be prepared to give care if they go unconscious.
Applying pain? Sternum rub(knuckle to chest) earlobe pinch, nail-bit pinch.
Unresponsive person? Call 9-1-1 immediately, Check their ABC's, and give CPR if they're not breathing.
What are the ABC's? A- airway B- Breathing C- Circulation
What do you do for the airway? Use the head tilt chin lift technique.
What is the head tilt chin lift technique? Keep one hand on the forehead and two fingers under the bony part of the chin. lift up the chin and tilt head back.
What do you do for breathing? Look, listen and feel for breathing. No more than 10 seconds.
What is an agonal breath? Sounds like a sudden gasp for air, it is NOT effective breathing and could mean they'll die. Give rescue breaths.
What do you do for circulation? Check fora pulse, check the carotid artery. It is the best place to check on children and adults.
If you find an unconscious person lying face first what do you do? Roll them face up and check their ABC's, if you need to move them be careful with the spine.
What are the sections of the spine? Cervical, thoracic, Lumbar, Sacrum, and the tail bone Coccyx.
What are the top causes of spinal injuries? Car wrecks, Falls, Violence, and sports related injuries.
How do you put someone in the recovery position? Roll them away from you, put the arm FURTHEST away from you by their head, prop the knee up closest to you, make sure the mouth is facing down so the vomit exits the person.
