| What do you do first upon an emergency situation? | You look around the scene and see if there is any more danger that can happen to you. |
| How do I know it`s an emergency? | Use your senses! Use your eyes, nose, and ears to see if anything is unusual. |
| What are the numbers for the state police, the dispatcher, poison control, and the emergency social services? | State police: #77 Poison Control: 1800-222-1222 Emergency Social Services: 2-1-1 Dispatcher: 9-1-1 |
| How do you care for a person? | You give care to a person based on your level of training and the injury to the person/s. |
| Would you ever need to break the three action emergency steps? | Yes, in some cases you would need to give care before you call. you would give (2) minutes of care before you call. |
| In what situation would you care before you call? | An unconsious adult - not witnessed. Sudden collapse of child. A child with known heart condition. |
| Do you think if a lot of people are at the scene then the person/s will get more care? | No. This is called the Bystander Effect to which the more people around the less someone will want to do something about it. |
| What is the law that will keep a person from being sued who helped a victim? | The Good Samaritan Law. |
| What reasons will The Good Samaritan Law protect you from being sued? | You act reasonable. You stay within your training. You gain consent(permission). You do not abandon them. |
| What is expressed consent? | verbally given my a consious, lucid adult or parent of a child. |
| What do you tell the person in need of help before you help them? | Say your name. Say you are trained. Tell them what you plan to do. And then ask if you can help them. |
| What is implied consent? | Assumed. Unconsious adult or absence of a child`s parent. |
| What do you do if the victim says that you can`t help them? | Do not touch them and call 9-1-1. Monitor the person until help arrives. |
| What can you do to help prevent getting a disease? | PPE= Personal Protective Equipment Ex: wearing gloves, gogles, etc. |
| What bodily fluids can have a possible disease in it? | Blood Saliva Urine Feces |
| Where do you put soiled contents? | In a bio-hazard container. |
| How can you make your own bio-hazard container in one is not available when needed? | You gat two ziplock bags and put one inside the other. |
| What is direct contact? | Physically having contact with bodily fluids. Ex: physically touching, kissing, and their bodily fluids getting into you or into an open wound. |
| What is indirect contact? | Airborne! Ex: A cough or sneeze. |
| Where does a disease enter the fastest? | The eyes, nose, or mouth. |
| What are the three P`s or code of ethics? | P: Preserve Life P: Prevent Further Injury P: Promote Recovery |
| If you don`t know how to help, then what is the least you can do? | Call 9-1-1!! |
