Dietary Reference Intakes A set of nutrient reference values that can be used to plan and assess diets for healthy people
Recommended Dietary Allowance Suggested levels of nutrient intake to meet the needs of most health people
Estimated Average Requirement A nutrient recommendation estimates to meet the need of half the healthy people in group
Adequate Intake A value set for nutrients for which research is too inconclusive to determine an RDA
Upper Tolerable Intake Level A lipoprotein that carries triglycerides and cholesterol made by the liver through the bloodstream to body cells
Dietary Guidelines For Americans A set of seven recommendations of Agriculture and Health and Human Services to help healthy people over age two know what to eat to stay healthy.
Food Guide Pyramid A visual tool used to help people plan healthy diets according to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
Serving size The mount of a food item customarily eaten at one time
Daily Values Recommended nutrient intakes, which are based on daily calorie needs, used as references on food labels.
Nutrient Density A comparison of the nutrients provided by a food with the calories provided by the food
Food Diary A record of the kinds and amounts of all foods and beverages consumed for a given time
