Phase | Time following ingestion | Characteristics |
II | 24 to 36 hours | Onset of liver injury with rise in AST/ALT |
III | 72 to 96 hours | Maximal hepatotoxicity. Peak liver function abnormalities (PT/bili), peak liver enzymes (AST/ALT) Possible fulminant hepatic failure (encephalopathy, acidosis). Death 3-5 days. |
IV | 4 days to 2 weeks | Resolution of hepatic dysfunction |
I | 0.5 to 24 hours | Anorexia, nausea, vomiting, malaise, pallor, diaphoresis. Rare metabolic acidosis, coma |
