Step-1   Question-develop a question or problem that can be solved through experimentation.

Step-3   Hypothesis-after doing research you will formuate a hypothesis about your question. Every hypothesis has an if/then statement

Step-4   Experiment-In order to test your hypothesis yyou need to develop and follow a procedure. A detailed materials list should be included

Step-5   Collect and analyze results-during this step you will review and modify the procedure if needed.

Step-6   Conclusion-After looking at your data information from your experiment make a conclusion. You may make recommendations for futher study and improvments

Step-7   Communicate results-Scientists share their results with a variety of people throughout the process. Can be done at any stage, not always at the end.

procedure   the step by step instructions that tell how an experiment is done. needs to be clear so that another scientist can repeat your eperiment

constants   The factors that stay the same in the experiment. Important to have so you know what made the change or caused the outcome. (in a experiment)

Dependent Variable   the variable that May change as a result of your experiment. The scientist does NOT purposely change it.

Independent Variable   The variable in an experiment that you purposefully change. You change it to see what will happen

Conclusion   The part of the experiment where the major findings and results are summarized.

hypothesis   An educated guess about the outcome of your experiment, Usually written as a IF/THEN Statement

variable   The factor that is changed in an experiment. there are 2 types: Independent/dependent
