Conterminous contained in the same boundaries
Absolute Location location description using longitude and latitude
Relative Location location description using a place's location in relation to other places
Physical Features the natural landforms and characteristics of a place
Plains a flat, treeless landscape that receives low levels of rain
Prairie too wet to be a desert, and too dry to be a forest
Region a subdivision of a larger area
Aquifer a layer of rock that holds water underground
Wind Chill the speed of wind and amount of moisture in the air affect temperature
Precipitation the amount of water in the air that falls to the earth as rain or snow
Drought a prolonged period of below average precipitation
Erosion the process of breaking down, as in the break down of rock by wind and water
Shelterbelts a barrier of trees and shrubs that protects against the wind and reduces erosion
Natural Resource a valuable substance from the earth (coal, oil, natural gas)
Irrigation to supply dry land with water by means of ditches, pipes, or streams
Reservoir an artificial lake used for the storage and regulation of water
