Spiculated RBCs
Question | Answer |

Echinocytes | Crenated; scalloped. Rounded, regular projections evenly distributed around the cell membrane of an RBC. |
Burr Cells | Irregularly sized and unevenly spaced spicules. More oval in shape, typically. |
Acanthocytes | Spiny projections irregularly distributed around RBC membrane; thorn-like. |
Dacryocytes (Teardrop) | Pear shaped RBC with an elongated point or tail at one end. |
Stomatocytes | Central pallor of RBC is slitted or mouth-like. Not biconcave, bowl shaped. |
Keratocytes (Helmet cells) | Small, triangular RBCs with one or two pointed ends; resembles a helmet. |
