Urine Definitions
Terminology used in Urinalysis

| Hemoglobin in the urine (RBC breakdown) | Hemoglobinuria |
| Myoglobin (from muscle breakdown e.g. race horses) (brown urine) | Myoglobinuria |

| WBCs in the urine (may be due to contamination by free catch) | Pyuria |
| Best timing for sample for urine analysis | Morning sample (or after no water for several hours) |
| Weight of dissolved solutes in a liquid measured by refractometer | Specific gravity |
| 1500 rpm (1000-2000 rpm) | Correct speed for urine centrifugation |
