What other gastric juices are produced in the stomach? Hydrochloric acid, pepsinogen & lipase
Name the middle section of the small intestine? The jejunum
What does the Brunner's gland produce and where is it found? Alkaline fluid, mucous & enzymes, found in the wall of the duodenum
Where is the ileum found? At the end of the small intestine
What enzymes are produced by the pancreas? Amylase, lipase & trypsinogen
What enzyme is activated in the gall bladder? Lipase
What are the crypts of lieberkuhn? Cells that produce intestinal juice that lie between villi in the Jejunum
What is absorbed in the large intestine? Water, electrolytes & vitamins
What is the longest portion of the large intestine? The colon
What species is the caecum important in? Herbivores
What part of the liver secretes bile? Bile canaliculi
Name 3 functions of the liver? - Protein metabolism - fat metabolism - detoxification - excess glucose storage - regulation of amino acids - convert fatty acids into phosphorus - regulation of body temp - carbohydrate metabolism - production of bile
