| Rooster | Intact male ratite, parrot, sexually mature male chicken |
| Hen | Intact female ratite, parrot, turkey, or chicken |
| Hatchling | Ostrich up to 2 days |
| Chick | Young rattie (usually less than 6 months of age), parrot, or very young chicken |
| Yearling | Ostrich from 6 months to 12 months of age; young equine between 1 and 2 years old |
| Cria | Young llama |
| Gaggle | Group of geese |
| Gilt | Young female pig that has not farrowed |
| Barrow | Male pigs castrated when young |
| Sire | Male rat/mouse |
| Dam | Female rat/mouse |
| Jenny | Intact female donkey |
