Reptile DIseases
| Question | Answer |

| Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) | Can be bacterial or viral. |
| Stomatitis (Mouth Rot) | Infection in the mouth. |
| Internal Parasites | Often intestinal parasites passed through prey. |
| Mites | Can be difficult to eradicate. |
| Metabolic Bone Disease | Weakening of the bone or impaired systems function caused by an imbalance in vitamin D3, calcium and phosphorus. Can be avoided with proper diet and supplements! |
| Salmonella | Most, if not all, reptiles carry this bacteria in their intestinal tract and intermittently or continuously shed these bacteria in their feces. Usually does not effect reptiles, but can effect YOU. Wash your hands!!!! |
| Small lizards can be | picked up by grasping them with the thumb and forefinger behind the head and holding around the body with the rest of the hand. |
| Larger lizards can be | held the same way but use the other hand to support the rear. |
