proptosis | displacement of eye from orbit |
eyeball | sphere with multilayers walls; walls are sclera, choroid, retina; aka orb |

equilibrium | state of balance |
blepharitis | inflammation of eyelid |
amblyopia | dimness or loss of sight without detectable eye disease |
eustachian | auditory ossicles |
otoplasty | surgical removal of the ear |
myringitis | inflammation of the eardrum |
canthotomy | incision into the corner of the eyelid |
tarsorrhaphy | suturing together of the eyelids |
pupillary light reflex | response of pupil to light, PLR |
menace response | diagnostic test to detect vision in which movement is made toward animal to test whether it will see movement/try to close its eyelids |
lacromotomy | incision into lacrimal gland/duct |
lensectomy | surgically removal of a lens |
cochlea | spiral shape passage that leads from the oval window to the inner ear |
photophobia | fear/intolerance of light |
pinna | top of the ear; auricle |
aural hematoma | collection or mass of blood on the outer ear |

heme | non protein iron portion of hemoglobin |
basophilic | stain readily with basic or blue dyes in many commonly used stains such as hematoxylin and eosin, giesma, and Wright's |
Edema | accumulation of fluid in intercellular space |
ultrasound | imaging of internal body structures by recording echoes of sound waves |
tonsillitis | inflammation of the tonsils |
buffy coat | layer that appears at interface of erythrocytes in plasma; betwix red blood cells and plasma. |
eosinophilia | elevation in the number of eosinophils in the blood |
