Canine Spine basic parts, location, structure

Spine 1. Movement: posture & motion 2. Strucutre: weight bearing support 3. Protection: enclose & protect spinal cord with spinal canal
Axis point allowing head & neck to rotate side to side
Scapula AKA Shoulder blade: flat bone with muscular protection giving movement rig for muscle attachment
Cervical vertebrae neck region C1 - C7
Thoracic Vertebrae Thorax-: pertaining to chest area T1-T13
Lumbar Vertebrae lower back L1-L7
Sacrum Vertebrae shield-shape @ lumbar vertebrae connecting to pelvis S1-S3
Coccygeal Vertebrae AKA Caudal vertebrae: making up the tail bones connecting with the sacral vertebrae Cd1 - Cd23 - typically ranging from 6-23 depending on length
Facet Joint 2 bones meet for movement (superior vertebrae -- Facet joint -- Inferior Vertebrae)
