How is an ultrasonic cleaner used This passes high frequency sound waves through a solution to create a vibration that scrubs an object to remove debris – very important to remove the physical debris before sterilization !
What should you do before placing instruments in an ultrasonic cleaner Rinse all instruments of debris before submerging them in an enzyme bath Bathe instruments in Enzyme solution for no more than a few minutes Scrub and rinse instruments of any remaining debris
When you place instruments in an ultrasonic cleaner how long should you run it for 15 minutes
What should you do to instruments when you take them out of an ultrasonic cleaner Place instruments on a clean cloth to dry Spray instruments with Instrument milk which will lubricate the instruments, keeping them from sticking
How should the pack we when wrapping instruments Packs should be organized and always placed in the same location on the tray
When is a towel used when wrapping instruments A towel lines the tray to protect the instruments Drapes, towels, and gauze are placed in last
What should you place in the pack Always place an indicator strip in your pack.
What does an indicator strip do Changes color when exposed to heat or gas The color changes signifies that the pack has been exposed to gas or steam and is considered sterile
