Optimizing the image

QuestionAnswer
Motion Unwanted movement or restlessness of the patient during an x-ray exposure.
Blur Results from patient motion.
Distortion Foreshortening or elongation due to angulation of the body, cassette, or the tube.
Magnification An equal/even distortion of an entire body part.
Parallel Grid Absorbs the radiation at the edges of the image.
Focused Grid Allows the X-rays to pass through, even at the edge of the image.
Illuminators Transmits light evenly throughout the image on film.
Filtration A mirror inside the collimator attenuates the x-ray beam.
