Urinary calculi Urolithiasis/ Water Belly/ Calculous CAUSES: Ram and Weathers, fed high concentrations, diet imbalance of Ca:P , salts forming in urine and logging in the urethra, Concentrates high in phosphorus PREVENTION: Keep fresh water, add 0.5% of chloride to feed, add calcuim to high phosphorus diets
Sore mouth Viral Disease What it is: Sore on a lambs mouth that causes discomfort while nursing and can be transferred to the Ewe's udders PREVENTION/TREATMENT: Iodine and glycerol on lesions , control through vaccinaion
Polyarthritis Inflammation of Joints/ Joint Ill CAUSE; Bacterial infection SYMPTOMS: Stiff/ Swollen Joints, Reluctant to move, depression, decreased body weight, fever TREATMENT: Broad-spectrum antibiotic, pen ewe and lamb together PREVENTION: Dip umbilical cord at birth
Scrappies CAUSE; AN abnormal Prion Effects: Nervous system, normally older sheep, black face sheep SYMPTOMS: Itching, wool pulling=, incoordination, muscle tremors, light sensitivity, weight loss NO TREATMENT/PREVENTION
