Passive touch No pressure, No motion, Hand rests on animal for 30-90 seconds
Effleurage Soothing, warms tissues Increases circulation Gliding stroke using one or both hands
Compression Press tissue between palms/fingers or against underlying bone
Petrissage Strokes where the skin and muscles are raised from their ordinary position then squeezed, rolled, or pinched with firm pressure in a semi-circular direction
Digital circles Use fingertips to move tissue in circular patterns
Thumb gliding Use the thumb or fingers to follow along the length of the spine
Passive (PROM) One joint at a time, flex and hold 10 seconds then extend or relax for 10 seconds. Repeat 10 times.
Active (AROM) Cookie stretches, lateral each way, nose between front legs, look up
