Positions in the mouth

| Arcade | how the teeth are arranged in the mouth |
| Lingual Surface | The aspect of the tooth that faces the tongue on the mandible |
| Palatal Surface | The aspect of the tooth that faces the hard palette/tongue on the maxilla |
| Buccal Surface (Vestibular) | The aspect of the tooth that faces the cheek |
| Bucca | Cheek |
| Vestibule | space or cavity at an entrance |
| Occlusal Surface | The aspects of the teeth that meet when they animal chews. |
| Occlude | to stop |
| Labial Surface | The tooth surface facing the lips |
| Labia | Lips |
| Contact Surfaces | The aspects of the tooth that touch other teeth |
| Mesial | The contact surface closest to the midline of the dental arch or arcade. |
| Distal | The contact surface farthest from the midline of the dental arch or arcade. |
